Sandia Super Moon

The clear evening in Albuquerque during the recent “super moon” was a great opportunity to observe a night scene in preparation for a night painting.  Jim and I walked over to the wilderness boundary and waited for the full moon to rise.  It was a longer wait than expected, since we had to wait for the moon to rise over a ridge.  Indeed, the moon was larger, although not as large as it would have appeared had we observed it at the true horizon.  None-the-less, we and many other night hikers enjoyed the concept of the larger moon and the excuse to be there at night!  The moon lit up the foothills and trails so well, none of us had trouble finding our way back in the “dark”.
